A Privilege
We are nearly halfway through our stewardship campaign, and I can’t think of a better blessing for it than what we will hear in our epistle reading this coming Sunday: “May you have all endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light” (Colossians 1:11-12).
Good Shepherd is here for us, because of the stewardship of the saints who have gone before. I have heard so many of their names: Lisa, Peter, Milo and Violet, Helen, Sheila, Gail, Hans, Elfreida, Gussie, the list goes on. These faithful loved ones served this church with passion and made it what it is today. Each one of them brought a ray of God’s light into this place.
Now their sacred mantle of stewardship has become an inheritance passed down to us. In turn, we hope to pass it on to the new generation. This takes patience, and may even try our patience from time to time. But I see you persist and even be joyful, because you “get” that to have a church, especially a church like this, is a privilege. And I feel privileged to be serving with you.
with love,
Pastor Chelsea
