A Space Lift

Healthy churches grow like a tree, accumulating rings around a solid core. But after many years, the accumulation of layers can make a church look a bit...droopy. Enter a Space Lift!

A Space Lift is a chance for a church to refresh its physical space, to reflect more of who it’s becoming, rather than just who it has been. It’s a time to honor and archive the past, and clear empty space for new ideas to be displayed and tried on.

When Pr. Rick Neu gave his recent presentation in our Adult Forum space, those who were gathered looked around at our packed bookshelves and comfy donated armchairs and wondered what new decorations might emerge, to give this well-used nook a fresh, inviting feel, and make room for new uses. Are library books and interior spaces your jam? Please contact Vicki or Council to volunteer your organization and design skills!

This Sunday, Alan will be giving a presentation on liberation theology, and we will consider how our church’s many justice ministries could coalesce around three or four themes, to be presented in each of our four solid bookcases. We are also looking for 6-8 matching modern chairs, if you come across any to donate! Thank you for using your imagination to lift this space into its next era.

with love, Pastor Chelsea
