Dream Spotting

During Lent, we asked the question “Who will roll away the stone?” For us the stone is: hate, judgment, racism, fighting, rudeness, pride, exclusion, greed, walls, allowing children to go to sleep hungry, oppression, revenge, apathy, and war.

We also named aspects of God’s dream for new life, the promise of Easter: open hearts, loving one another whoever they are,  feed the hungry, share bread, holding hands, care for the Earth, birds, bees, flowers, children, rainbows, freedom to practice faith, self-advocacy and accessibility, loving God’s creatures, boating and camping, punk rock/anarchy/rock n roll (!), sharing God’s love, and peace.

Have you seen any these things recently? Where have you spotted them in your own life? (At church, perhaps?) In the gospel of Luke, the Risen Christ asks his disciples to be his witnesses - to tell people everything he has shown them. WE are his witnesses too; we see new life in the world around us. God is still rolling away the stone!

So let us say with Mary Magdalene, “I have seen the Lord!”

with love, Pr. Chelsea
