Dream Spotting
During Lent, we asked the question “Who will roll away the stone?” For us the stone is: hate, judgment, racism, fighting, rudeness, pride, exclusion, greed, walls, allowing children to go to sleep hungry, oppression, revenge, apathy, and war.
We also named aspects of God’s dream for new life, the promise of Easter: open hearts, loving one another whoever they are, feed the hungry, share bread, holding hands, care for the Earth, birds, bees, flowers, children, rainbows, freedom to practice faith, self-advocacy and accessibility, loving God’s creatures, boating and camping, punk rock/anarchy/rock n roll (!), sharing God’s love, and peace.
Have you spotted any of these good things recently? I know you have, because you wrote them down on the big sheet of paper during our prayer stations during Lent! God is still rolling away the stone to reveal God’s dream underneath.
In the gospel of Luke, the Risen Christ asks his disciples to be his witnesses - to tell people about what he has shown them and what they have seen in him. WE are his witnesses too; we spot new life everywhere, in the world all around us, and we recognize this life as our Risen Lord.
So let us say with Mary Magdalene: “I have seen the Lord!”
with love, Pr. Chelsea
