Layers

By the time you read this, I will be in the Midwest visiting family. I'm so grateful to Dave and Dan for covering for me this Sunday! I seem to have accidentally layered my annual vacation right on top of two significant anniversaries in the life of our church: the death of our beloved member Lisa Rees last July, and the anniversary of the July 10th floods. I hope you will reach out to Pastor Jen up the road if you find yourself in urgent need of pastoral care. I will be covering for her later in the summer.

It was a joy to be at the United Church of Underhill last Sunday, since that is actually my UCC church of membership! As an authorized minister in the United Church of Christ, I am required to maintain membership in a local congregation. This means I pledge to them along with Good Shepherd, and that I help Pastor Jen out when she invites me. She is Methodist, which adds another layer of richness to my Christian experience in Jericho.

Your openness to ecumenical witness is one of the things I love most about Good Shepherd! I will miss you, and hope everyone stays safe on their summer travels.
